Manning with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh
inning as the Trinity Catholic baseball team earned a 5-4
victory over Maimonides on Friday.
The Falcons followed up the thriller with a 19-8 victory
over the Parker School on Saturday to improve to 12-2 on the
season.
After Maimonides rallied from a 4-2 deficit to tie the game,
Manning singled leading off the seventh and McAdam sent
everyone home with the double.
The Falcons jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first on an RBI
triple from senior Bobby Greenwood and an RBI single from
junior Mike Marchionda. Maimonides tied it at 2-2 through
four when the Falcons went back up two on junior Sean
Moccia's two-run single in the fifth.

Junior starter Mike Marchionda needed just 85 pitches for
his first career no-hitter as the Trinity Catholic baseball
team reached double-digits in victories with a 7-0 blanking
of the Parker School yesterday.
Marchionda allowed just a fifth-inning walk and was helped
by flawless defense.??``He pitched fantastic,'' said TC
coach Craig Genualdo. ``He came through bigtime today. He
pitched a lot of first-pitch strikes and kept them off
balance. He had the best curveball that he's had all
season.''
Trinity scored four runs in the fourth inning on only one
hit to break the game open. Sophomore John Sergi walked,
stole a base and scored on a single from sophomore Kevin
McAdam. Junior Sean Moccia and senior Bobby Greenwood walked
to load the bases and Marchionda hit an RBI fielder's
choice. Senior Marc Leger's sacrifice fly made it 6-0.
The Falcons added an insurance run in the seventh when
Greenwood tripled and Marchionda singled him home.
McAdam went 3-for-3 with two runs scored and three stolen
bases, Marchionda went 2-for-4 with three RBI and Greenwood
had the triple, three walks and three runs scored.
The Falcons (10-2) host Maimonides tomorrow.

Trinity 13, Pope John 11
The Trinity Catholic softball team struck for four runs in
the bottom of the sixth inning to hold off Pope John in a
Catholic Central League victory at Cabot Park.
The Falcons gave up the lead in the top of the sixth when
Pope John scored four runs, but sophomore Kathryn
Haggstrom's pinch-hit RBI single highlighted Trinity's rally
the other way.
``Pope John really came out to play today,'' said TC coach
Troy Turick. ``We mercy-ruled them the first time we played,
but they were a much different team this time around.??``I'm
really proud of our girls. After a bitter loss to South
Shore Christian Academy on Friday, the girls bounced back
and got the win.''
The Falcons were coming off a 9-8 loss to SSC in which they
led with two outs in the seventh, but gave the game away on
two errors.
``It was disheartening,'' Turick said, ``but that is why
this win was so important for us.''
Senior pitcher Molly Stone had a complete game, junior
second baseman Hannah McCaffrey went 1-for-3 with two runs
scored, a walk and RBI, senior center fielder Juliette
Noonan walked four times and had three runs and four stolen
bases and sophomore third baseman Nicole Civitarese had a
hit, run, three walks and three RBI.
TC (5-6, 4-3 CCL) travels to Matignon today.
